Parades—marching bands, floats (some that really float!), kings and queens, color guards, even pooches, pooper scoopers and, of course, “Show us your shoes!”—the 11 parades of Fiesta San Antonio provide great fun for adults and kids alike.

Fiestas Fantasias Flambeau floatDidn’t know that there are 11 parades during the 11 days? Here’s the rundown, in order of their occurrence:

  • San Antonio State School’s Family Fiesta Parade (first Saturday).
  • Fort Sam Houston Military Review (first Sunday)
  • Fiesta de los Niños Children’s Parade (first Saturday).
  • Fiesta Funday Sunday Parade (first Sunday; the shortest parade in Fiesta).
  • Texas Cavaliers River Parade (Monday).
  • NIOSA Grand March (Tuesday).
  • Lackland Fiesta Military Parade (Wednesday).
  • Battle of Flowers Parade (Friday).
  • Fiesta Pooch Parade(second Saturday).
  • King William Fair Parade (second Saturday).
  • Fiesta Flambeau Parade (second Saturday).

three major parade routes!

In January 2012 the San Antonio City Council approved
an amendment to its non-smoking ordinance.  Smoking will be prohibited
within the public right of way and in any seats within the public
right of way or city property along the three major Fiesta parade routes.
The goal is to create a cleaner, healthier environment for the hundreds of thousands
of men, women and children who come to enjoy these wonderful Fiesta events.
