Will you be Fit during Fiesta?
Join Fiesta Commission President Evangelina G. Flores and Mayor Julián Castro and his Fitness Council during Fiesta 2012.
Take steps to maintain your weight as you have fun at some of Fiesta’s more than 100 events. Here are some suggestions:
- Look for non-fried choices at food booths.
- Opt for fruit where it’s available.
- Walk around Fiesta event venues—take a “Fiesta Furlong” or two (a furling is one-eighth of a mile).
- Going to a Fiesta event near where you live? Walk or ride your bike.
- Going to the Battle of Flowers or Fiesta Flambeau parade? Arrive early (less traffic anyway), then do your own parade down part of the 2.6-mile route.
- For parades or other events, it may be easier (and less expensive) to find parking some distance from the event venue. Wear comfortable shoes, and walk to the gate.
