TITLE: Executive Director
REPORTS TO: President

Job Description
Reporting to the President and the Executive Committee, the Executive Director will direct the daily operations of the Fiesta® Commission. He or she will work closely with the President, community and nonprofit leaders, City and County representatives, member organizations and the staff to continue the mission of the Fiesta® Commission.
Qualifications and Characteristics
· Knowledge of Fiesta® San Antonio, San Antonio and surrounding communities.
· Significant experience in developing budgets and managing operations to meet or exceed desired results.
· Energy, enthusiasm and self-confidence in building relationships.
· Ability to inspire volunteers to work and achieve planned objectives.
· Inspires trust and confidence from the Board, nonprofit and community leaders.
· Demonstrated ability to take initiative in planning, organizing and effectively presenting ideas.
· Creates and communicates (with the help of the Executive Committee) a compelling and inspired sense of core purpose for the Commission based on the vision of the future, not the reality of today.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and problem solve quickly.
· Bi-lingual preferred.

Specific responsibilities of the Executive Director include:
Management
· Evaluate, supervise and employ all salaried and contract employees.
· Meet with all staff on a regular basis keeping them informed of organization progress or problems that needs to be resolved, as well as changes in the organization structure and /or policies.
· Organize and operate the office in an efficient manner.
· Advise and report all pertinent information to President and Executive Committee.
· Participate as an ex-officio member of all board committees, working with each committee chair on the development of related task and programs.
· Ensure proper maintenance of the Fiesta® Commission building and its premises.
· Delegate responsibilities as needed.

Public Relations
· Act as liaison with City, County, military and community organizations to promote a spirit of cooperation and communication.
· Monitor and supervise community issues and concerns related to Fiesta®.
· Ensure that a significant publicity program is established.
· Participate in industry related and community organization events and meetings.
· Ensure that a robust visitor hospitality program exists.

Finance
· Responsible for the preparation of an annual budget for presentation to the Executive Committee and Board of Commissioners for approval.
· Work with the Controller and other staff members to ensure that approved budget guidelines are instituted and met.
· Monitor budget on an ongoing basis to ensure that the approved results are being achieved.
· Assist Treasurer and Controller with preparation of the monthly report to the Executive Committee and Board of Commissioners showing actual results versus the approved budget.
· Organize, initiate, participate and direct implementation of all fund raising activities, sales and contract negotiations.
· Assist Corporate Partners Chairperson and assigned staff personnel in obtaining or negotiating sponsorship contracts.
· Ensure that accounting and tax reports are complete and timely.
· Oversee fund investments and ensure that all accounts are properly reconciled and approved.
Fiesta® Coordination
· Supervise the editing and production of all Fiesta® related material and merchandise.
· Ensure compliance with all City ordinances and insurance requirements.
· Act as a resource for any organization sponsoring an official Fiesta® event.
· Oversee the planning of workshops and meetings for Participating Member Organizations.
· Supervise the planning of Commission functions such as Poster Unveiling, Opening Ceremonies and Volunteer/Membership Parties.
· Build and manage an effective volunteer group of individuals that can be called on to work when and where needed.
· Coordinate special projects as needed.

Requirements
· Master's Degree preferred.
· Preference given to candidates with experience in festival and event leadership with a minimum of five years as the Executive Director, deputy or assistant director (or comparable corporate experience).
· Demonstrable experience with public relations.
· A proven track record of increasingly complex job responsibilities.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· A proven track record of fundraising, corporate underwriting and donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Public Relations Internship

The Fiesta San Antonio Commission is seeking undergraduate students interested in gaining experience in the non-profit/cultural environment. The Public Relations Intern will report directly to the Director of Communications and Consumer Marketing in areas of media relations, event staffing, operations and social media. This is a non-paid, six month internship offered for the fall and spring.

Business Administration Internship

The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission is seeking undergraduate students interested in gaining experience in the non-profit/cultural environment. The Business Administration Intern will report directly to the Executive Secretary in areas of administrative support, program development and event logistics. This is a non-paid, six month internship offered for the fall and spring.

Accounting Internship

The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission is seeking undergraduate students interested in gaining experience in the nonprofit/cultural environment. The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer, self-supporting organization that plans, promotes, coordinates, and preserves Fiesta® San Antonio through support of its Participating Member Organizations in presenting a safe, educational, annual celebration of the diverse heritage, culture and spirit of San Antonio for its residents and visitors. The Accounting Intern will report directly to the Finance Director in the area of accounting. This is an unpaid, six-month internship offered for the fall and spring.

Program Coordinator Internship

The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission is seeking undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining experience in a nonprofit environment. The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer, self-supporting organization that plans, promotes, coordinates, and preserves Fiesta® San Antonio through support of its Participating Member Organizations in presenting a safe, educational, annual celebration of the diverse heritage, culture and spirit of San Antonio for its residents and visitors. The Program Coordinator Intern will report directly to the Volunteer and External Relations Manager and the CEO in the areas of community engagement, program coordination, and event logistics. This is an unpaid, six-month internship offered for the fall and spring.

Volunteer Coordinator Internship

The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission is seeking undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining experience in a nonprofit environment. The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer, self-supporting organization that plans, promotes, coordinates, and preserves Fiesta® San Antonio through support of its Participating Member Organizations in presenting a safe, educational, annual celebration of the diverse heritage, culture and spirit of San Antonio for its residents and visitors. The Volunteer Coordinator Intern will report directly to the Volunteer and External Relations Manager in areas of volunteer coordination, membership development and event logistics. This is an unpaid, six-month internship offered for the fall and spring.
