The San Antonio AIDS Foundation announced on March 13 that Kathryn Joosten, the character actress who portrays “Karen McCloskey” on the ABC drama “Desperate Housewives” will make a special appearance at the organization’s annual WEBB Party scheduled for May 18 at the San Antonio Museum of Art.
Joosten’s credits are impressive for any actor, let alone one that only began the craft at age 42 and arrived in Hollywood just over ten years ago. Joosten has created dozens of characters, and is best known for her portrayal of “Mrs. Landingham,” secretary to the President (Martin Sheen), on the critically acclaimed NBC drama, “The West Wing.” In 2004, Joosten became one of the neighbors on Wisteria Lane in “Desperate Housewives.”
David Ewell, SAAF’s Executive Director, said, “We’re very excited about having Kathryn Joosten as our celebrity guest at the WEBB Party. Her appearance will help draw more attention to this event which helps bring much needed funds to our organization.”
Plans for Joosten’s visit include appearances on local television and radio shows. She also will be available for media interviews and plans visit the San Antonio AIDS Foundation’s SAAF House where she will meet with residents.
Now in its 17th year, the WEBB Party is SAAF’s largest fundraiser of the year. The event typically attracts over 3000 people who partake of a spectacular cuisine tasting that includes food from over 25 area restaurants, plentiful beverages, dance music provided by a deejay and live performances by local entertainers. There is also a silent auction with hundreds of items at all price levels.
Tickets for the WEBB Party are $60 pre-sale and $75 at the door. Costumes are encouraged! Tickets can be purchased at Danny’s Salon on St. Mary’s, the Fiesta Store, On Main/Off Main Cards and Gifts, all Half Price Books locations, Madhatter’s Teahouse Cafe, W.D. Deli and select H-E-B stores. Check the Web site (txsaaf.org/webbparty) for complete ticket information. Tickets can also be purchased by calling SAAF at 210-225-4715.
